More than 1000 people joined us this year — families, friends, vraties, and volunteers — all coming together with devotion, unity, respect, teamwork, and pure community spirit.

This concluded event created a truly divine experience — beautiful ghat preparation, soulful Chhath music, peaceful offerings, blessings, smiles, and a warm cultural atmosphere all around Newport Beach.

A very special and soulful thank you to all Vraties — your discipline, faith, devotion, and spiritual strength are the heart of Chhath. Your presence, your sankalp, and your prayers brought a divine energy that everyone felt deeply.

Born from the simple idea that traditions are stronger when celebrated together, BJ Bandhu has grown into a cultural family where everyone — whether Bihari by birth, heart, or friendship — is welcome. We come together to celebrate the festivals that shaped our childhood and keep our heritage alive. From the soulful devotion of Chhath Puja at the serene Newport Dunes waterfront, to the joyous colors of Holi, the divine power of Durga Puja, the playful celebration of Makar Sankranti, the protective blessings of Hanuman Jayanti, and the sparkling lights of Diwali, every festival becomes a bridge between our past and present. Our gatherings are more than events — they are moments of belonging. We sing folk songs, share homemade delicacies, teach our children about the traditions of our ancestors, and create memories that honor where we come from while embracing our life here in America. Beyond festivities, BJ Bandhu stands for friendship, support, and service — helping one another in times of need and encouraging cultural pride across generations. BJ Bandhu is a loving, registered 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural and charitable family dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of Bihar-Jharkhand culture in the Greater Los Angeles area, California.

Founded in 2022, BJ Bandhu was born out of a shared dream — to create a home away from home where traditions are not only kept alive but passed down with love to the next generation. We strive to build an inclusive and vibrant community where Bihar-Jharkhand roots flourish through festivals, art, and meaningful human connections.

From the vibrant celebration of Chhath Puja — our most cherished and soulful celebration — to the spiritual strength of Holi and the colorful joy of Makar Sankranti, Hanuman Jayanti, Durga Puja, and Diwali, each festival becomes a family gathering filled with devotion, laughter, and the warmth of shared memories. In every event and every interaction, we lift each other up — helping one another in times of need, celebrating one another’s joys, and making sure everyone feels like family.
